Hi there
Ive been desperately trying to come up with a way to keep my tomatoes etc in my polytunnel watered whilst on holiday. Ive read about using upturned pop bottles. When experimenting I found that if I made a small hole in the lid, cut off the bottom of the bottle and then inserted (well I used a small paint brush) the water dripped out nicely. What I would like to know is : 1) How long would a 2L bottle last. I noticed that when the end of the paintbrush made contact with the expelled water(I upturned it in another vessel) the water level stopped going down. 2) Would this happen in the ground.ie: once the soil was saturated . 3) would keeping the polytunnel plants constantly saturated be detrimental to them. Thanks Tenpin |
