I often use my own compost so I get lots of weeds. These aren't nettles. Smooth stem, no stingy bits. Thought the leaves are serrated.
It's the only thing that's grown in this pot....labelled up incorrectly. Am I cultivating a weed?

Doesn't look quite like a weed - dunno what it is though!
Does it smell of anything when you rub the leaves?

No smell....and I was just about to post and remembered you sent me a couple of weird seeds that I'd never tried.

      Black parsley didn't germinate.

They look a bit like dahlia leaves to me.

Definitely not dahlias. I have lots of those...these leaves aren't as "fleshy" as dahlias - they are a little more fragile?

I agree with VC it doesn't look like any weed I am familiar with. You will just have to grow it on to fruition.

Look a bit like birch seedlings - do they have a tough stem?

green shiso, or Japanese basil, has a flavour similar to coriander, but is also often described to have cinnamon and even mint notes.

I like the sound of green shiso. Might have to get some.

I think it must be some Japanese "herb"
I am going to wait for it to flower.

Well, I potted them on and I've been nurturing ground elder!!! Obviously from seed as there wasn't any tuber bits in the soil. I'm amazed because I honestly didn't see it in those early seedlings.

Like Mothhawk I think it resembles dahlia leaves, it shows how miss leading photographs can be, but remember ground elder can be eaten

it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

I have it everywhere Rary!! Earlier in the year I was contemplating taking everything out and weed killing
I weed more than anyone and the mass of roots is just too much. The problem is it's also all in the lawn.
If I knew what it was when I moved in 20 years ago I wouldn't have bought this place. It is the worst thing ever.
