  • Carlton F1 leeks

I used to grow Carlton F1 leeks and they were great, early, long straight white shafts and nice and vigorous, they made my Musselburghs look feeble.

However, they aren't available anywhere any more...

    Can anyone recommend something similar?

I'm looking for seeds, but they are 'currently unavailable' everywhere, including Suttons.

You could try Tornado, I like it and it has some rust resistance.

Do you grow leeks in a tube to blanch the leaves? I dug my first leeks yesterday which I planted late summer and though looked a good size they were very short. Then I read in my gardening Which that they can grow in a tube !!
