Which onions and leeks?

I am wanting to plant some onion sets but was wondering which variety would be a decent size for general cooking use but also good for storing?

I was also wanting to grow 2 types of leeks, one that can be used as a baby leek and left to grow bigger if need be and another variety that will last in the ground until late winter, any good suggestions as to which varieties to choose?

I'm not great with leeks, but I can highly recommend Sturon as a decent onion which stores brilliantly. Last year I was still eating 2013's onions when I started to harvest again in August, and they hadn't sprouted or gone rotten.

Virtually any leek can be picked young and used as either a mild spring onion or as a baby leek for cooking.

I am a red onion fan so for me its Red Baron or Red Fen.

I grew "Nipper" as an early leek last year, they grew relatively quickly for leeks and were good in stir fries etc.
