New chilli plants, where to plant them?

I planted some seeds ages ago and thought they were a bust, but then around mid summer they sprouted and now I have 5 small plants, 2-4" tall, in a single pot. I'm sure they should be planted out but no idea if it's too late for them to go in the garden. They're some "numex" variety I think.

Any advice? Our garden is sheltered and very sunny but do these plants tolerate winter?

I'd pot them into individual pots then once it starts to get cooler bring them indoors on a window sill and they can stop all winter.
