  • 16llbs wild cherries!!!

so, we picked 16llbs of wild cherries whilst we were on holiday, i've managed to stone them and freeze them. Has anyone got any fool-proof recipes for jams/conserves, especially any more unusual ones not just 'cherry jam', say cherry and ? jam

    cheers

we were roughly half way between melton mowbray and nottingham, nearest village was kinoulton. Found the cherry tree laden along the towpath of the Grantham canal. Absolutely beautiful area for walking and cycling, i'd say bit of a hidden gem really. Had a wonderful time especially with the weather being so good. As for wild plums I tend to get mine from Sywell country park(10mins away) two years ago the trees were absolutely dripping all different colours, have my fingers crossed for a good year this year as they weren't so good last year. We also have a good spot for apples and pears, one of the local 'pocket' parks is on the site of an old orchard, if my trees are anything to go by it should be a good year - lots of cider methinks!!!!

it's great when you find stuff like that - last year we hunted high and low for wild plums, hardly any around - our plum tree in the garden only had one plum and that shrivelled up and died - this year the plum tree is heavily laden ....
i definitely live in the wrong area for wild fruit ....
