what is the seed/plant name of these chillies

my wife went into town a few months back and came home with this chilli plant as a tiny plug it was labelled as capsicum anyone know the real name i would love to grow this from seed

Might be 'Fairy Lights', but I can't say for certain though.

At what stage do they go purple, fully ripe?
Also, eat one and tell us how hot you reckon they are, would help us narrow down it's variety =)

i have left a lot of the purple ones but once they turn they dont seem to change again they seem to start of burgandy turn to a yellowy/green then a purple i really like chillis and dont find them that hot maybe the same heat as jalopenoes :S

Easy way to grow them next year = save some of the seed from the ripe chillies.

rustylady sorry if this is a stupid question but will saving the seeds work or will i get a different chilli plant next year do chillis cross pollinate as i have had them next to two patio sizzle chilli plants!

Chili, Hot Peppers - Numex Twilight - think this be it could

They are pretty much self-pollinating. The flowers are similar to tomatoes and the pollen falls onto the cone of the flower. I think most hybrids are deliberately hand pollinated.

I had a plant last year I bought from a chilli festival and saved some seeds for this year. They definately haven't produced the same plants this year so I assume they cross-pollinated with my cayenne plants.

I gave a few plants away so not sure what they look like now, but this is the 3 plants I have kept grown from the original fairy lights plant. The one with the smallest chillies is most like the original fairy lights plant.



Not quite as colourful, but the chillies are fine.

I agree with Darcy - looks like Numex Twilight to me. I am growing some this year but they haven't fruited yet. What colour were the flowers?

They do look very much like Twilights. Grow some last year.
If you want more next year, try overwintering the plant you have. I gave one of the plants I grow to a friend. He left it in a heated conservatory during the dark months and now has lovely plant.

As others say, looks a bit like Numex Twilight to me...I have 3 plants of these this year and they have started to form....
