  • Potting On Courgettes

How deep do I pot courgettes?
Is it top of roots/bottom of stem level with new soil in pot?

  • #2
I always just keep the soil at the same level from seeding. I've never sewn mine this early though as I don't have a GH or PT and I know they grow at such a rate that I wouldn't have room for them in my conservatory or blowaway. By the time I plant them on my lottie they are usually in a 2 litre pot or there abouts.

I always keep at the same level too. Don't want to risk rotting the stem.

I tend to pot things up to the baby leaves.

I do the same as HH - I think most cucurbits stem root anyway so I always plant deep.

My courgettes are 3 weeks old and are about 6-8inches tall.
            They all floppy.

Pot them up to their baby leaves so as to clamp them in. I had the same problem, they were only a week old and a bit leggy as they grew in the magic seed grower.

They don't take kindly to the cold, that could be why they are all floppy. Give them some mollycoddling.

I don't mind the triffids. They are strangely beautiful like that. Probably end up resowing a few of mine.will have to check tomorrow to see which one's.
