  • Bare root strawberries - please help.

    Hi

I received in the post late yesterday 18 bare root strawberries! We have now had a lot of snow and so I cannot get them into pots or the ground! Should I put them in a tub of water or what - please help!

Also I have 6 small veg beds in the garden - approx 1m squared. How many plants could I put in one bed? Does it work well to have a whole strawberry bed?

    Thank you very much

    Strawberry plants

Ideally leave PLANTS in a cool place and plant out as soon as possible.. do not allow to dry out completly..

It is easier to grow fruit in one fixed bed next to a path... you could add rhubarb or other fruit -eg blackcurrent bushes to the area...

But 18 strawberry plants would fill a 1 metre square patch easily...

Strawberrys are prolific croppers and self propergate by the use of runners..plants..

18 plants will turn into 30+ plants if the runners are allowed to replant them selfs.
    do a little every day...
keep it organic and taste and see the difference..
