  • What's eating my kale?

Although my kale is covered with lots of whitefly, these have never been found to eat my sprouts, cabbages etc.
So the question is, what is slowly eating the leaves of my kale plants?
They are well protected against pigeons with thick wire mesh and covered on top with more mesh.
Plants have the leaves stripped but the thicker flesh down the centre is left intact.

    Help!!

Snails, if mine is anything to go by. Had none earlier in the season, few slugs either, now everywhere I look my brassicas have a caravanning mollusc hiding in the undergrowth, and the damage is just as you describe.
