  • Pumpkins going crazy

    Urrmmm, is it just my pumpkins going mad at the moment?

    I have male and female flowers everywhere. I have 4 pumpkins growing!!!!! One the size of a grapefruit (in 6 days), 1 the size of an orange and 2 are lemon size!!!

    Hoping for an Indian summer now to increase 3 pumpkins already harvested, to 7 by Halloween - yes, I know it's unlikely but I can dream, can't I?

            I had one that was totally dapper. For reasons unknown it decided life wasn't for it. Since then, it's shrivelled up into essentially, a nothingness.

              I had some lovely golden nuggets ready, but some nice person helped themselves to the lot.

              Thankfully they've missed two other ones - Turks turban.

                It just makes me so cross when people help themselves to stuff

                  Yup, I was really annoyed.. It was more than likely someone on site, as they were all hidden by overgrown waist hi weeds, nothing else was taken. All were cut clean off too.

                  * shrug *

                    I've got two the size of tennis balls but I'm expecting them to shrivel up and die any time now just like the rest have been doing.

                      Is this due to a lack of nutrients, or something else? I posted (above) with a similar issue.

                        Not sure Chris its the first time I've grown pumpkins, I gave some of my space seeds to my niece next door and hers are a big as footballs.

                          You know I often think that gardening on an allotment would be a much more social thing to do and get a little envious but then I read something like this and I feel overwhelmingly grateful for my solitary but secure veg patch at home. Glad they missed a couple Chris.
