Hi- I've moved your thread to where more peeps will see it!

Personally, I always remove the flower.

I grew some rhubarb from seed last year and 3 of the crowns are now producing flowers. After some research I have twisted them off. From what I have read you keep removing these flowering stalks as they appear. If they are left on, then less energy goes into producing edible stalks.

Im sure a rhubarb expert will leave a note, I will be watching out for the answer as well.

If you want to keep using the crop, then remove it as Nicos says [isn't rhubarb a veg though nicos? ;p]

Is it stressed? Does it need a good watering?

They are worse in dry summers in my experience. Pull it out sharply, like you pull the sticks to eat. Then give it a good dollop of rotted manure of any sort and lots to drink.

Mine may need watering, it has been rather dry lately.

More than likely (ie - leaf stem)....but in my mind if it can be made into jam or eaten in a crumble with custard then it ought to be classified as a fruit!!

You put it in growing techniques - which is automatically put aside for the mods to OK.
That section is just for advice to share with other Grapes to help their gardening skills - it does say somewhere about that, but we're always redirecting new threads off it!!! No probs you weren't the only one!
