Help!! I've purchased a couple of Asparagus and Rhubarb crowns from a local shop on a whim and they've been lying in their containers untouched for a few weeks.

I didn't want to plant them until I move in about 3 weeks as Im told they hate their roots being moved. (Otherwise Id have planted them in a deep container and not realised)

I've notice the asparagus has thrown up a complete spear already and a few others starting. Will it still be ok to plant them? And do I just leave the spears to rot down the first year and let them grow ferms and go wild?

Also is there anything else I can plant in the asparagus bed apart from catch crops?

And the 2 rhubarb buds will be planted in a corner of the garden and forgot about... Will it be ok to plant both the little crowns together?

Will appreciate any advice, I didn't realise Asparagus would need its own raised bed and doesnt like containers! ... eek!
