  • rhubarb red patchs...

ive planted my first rhubarb plant this year, and im not taking any stems from it coz ive heard this weakens the plant in the first year.

however today ive noticed dark red patches appearing on one of the leaves. any idea wot this is?

I've not seen this, but there is some stuff about red leaf disease on the net, have a look at it and see what you think.

Often rhubarb will discolour and some leaves will die off, as long as new healthy shoots are coming through, you may be ok.

Try feeding it with something and maybe taking any dodgy looking leaves off, if your plant can take it.

Please ignore everything I say, I make it up as I go along, not only do I generally not believe what I write, I never remember it either.

I broke one of my leaves halfway down and that turned dark red
