  • Rampant Raspberries

My raspberry canes are doing really well, except, new canes are sprouting up in places I don't want them

I've pulled them up - some come up complete with roots - generally the longer (2 foot or more) ones - I've tried planting these in large pots, but they seem to be dying off

Is there any way to save these and keep them growing in pots??

Wrong time of year, that's all (too hot, too dry, and the plant is trying to grow). Best time to take suckers for replanting is October.

Nice to see you back, btw.

thanks - i'd still like to try now if i can
do you think if i tried on a cooler day and kept it in the shade i might have better luck?
should i try fertilizer or something too?

If you really want to try now FG, then I would put several in a pot, and cut back the top growth to reduce water loss. Keep them in the shade and if they survive you can split them up and pot them on in Autumn.
