  • Pinching out runner beans

Anyone else pinch out their runners ? I do but not sure it makes a lot of difference.

I usually leave mine til they hit the top of the supports, and then nip the growing tip off.

If pinching them out when they're small is supposed to make them branch out? then I wouldn't bother because I'm not that fond of runners, I only grow them for the OH

I'm sure this has been covered before, but no I don't pinch mine out till they reach the top of the supports

I would, but I'm a short-*rse, and can't reach the top of the support myself!

Last year I pinched mine out before they got to the top of their supports and the swine kept on growing for about another 3 foot. They ended up looking like a smoke trail coming out of the top of a teepee.

It will make them bushy but will delay cropping.

I don't - often I don't even pinch out when they reach the top (I am tall!) but they do get in a bit of a tangle!

Only pinch them out when they get to the top of the canes, find they're bushy enough without any further assistance.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
