  • Shallots

I have saved about 20 shallots from last year's harvest. I want to use them as sets this year - is there any reason I should not do this and do I have to do anything to them before planting?

I have done the same as you for the last two years without any problem, I move the onions/shallots around the plot every year so you dont get a build up of nasties, the only other thing to recomend is to save your best shallots for planting and eat the rubbish not the other way round.

I've got about 2Kg saved from last year plus some I bought from Tesco's when they were cheap! Should be an interesting trial to see if it was worth it!

I've done this for years and it hasn't affected me yet
