  • Chillies and aubergines over Winter

    Hi there,
I'm growing chilli plants and aubergine plants in my unheated greenhouse. Will/can they survive a UK Winter there? If not, is there anything I can do (e.g bring them indoors for the Winter)?
I've got quite attached to them (!) so any tips would be much appreciated.

Chilli plants possibly on a warm windowsill, but I doubt the aubergines would survive.

Smaller chilli plants can be overwinterd indoors no problems although they can attract quite a lot of small flies. Aubergines, unlikely, they're very tender and large and both will soon die in an unheated environment. You'll be best off starting again next spring.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

I allways try and overwinter chillies indoors, but never had any success.

I just need one cold day and that seams to kill the plant. Got 4 plants that I will try again this year.
