  • Sour strawberries

I have a bed of strawberries three different types but can`t remember what i planted some are two years old some just planted this year. All have produced a good lot of fruit, and all turning red. But they all appear to be not very sweet, some can be quite sour. Is it the type of strawberry or is it something else?
    Thank you.

you say they are turning red? Are you sure you're not picking them too early Maybe they're not quite ripe

I agree with SMS6 I have had to learn to wait until they are completely red and nearly mushy before I pick them.

One of the tests I use is, if the core comes out when you pull it, it is ready. Give them a few more days in the sun and see what happens.

I also use smell. When they are ripe they have an almost overpowering deep strawberry smell when you sniff them!
