  • Question re tomatoes

I grow about 10 or 12 tomato plants in my poly tunnel, about 5 of the plants are heritage tomatoes, i ve noticed on 1 of the plants its getting its little flowers, lots of little flowers to be honest. but it also has one massive flower about the size of a 50 pence, what is that ? just curious

    Thanks

    A genetic quirk probably.

I'd tag this one and try to leave it [the tomato] on as long as possible, and it it comes out at all interesting, save the seeds and grow it next year and see what happens.

Some heritage toms do have a massive, almost double flower, as the first one. Many people nip that off. I don't - but you get a big ridged, ungainly tom from it.

I think i, now you mentioned it remember one year getting a huge odd shaped tomato that didnt look like the rest on the plant. this plant seems happy enough with its pretty little flowers and the huge odd one, so i will leave it on...x

        thanks
