Bunching carrots

I have some carrot seeds (no idea where from!) they say to thin to 2cm between roots as a bunching variety. What does this mean??
Surely 2cm isn't enough room to give a 'proper' carrot.
Can anyone advise?

Yes you can sow like this. As the carrots grow, they push each other aside. Do it with onions too if you want, and beetroot.
You get small tender veggies

I've always assumed that 'bunching carrots' were like 'bunching onions' - spring onions. So bunching carrots are small ones you can hold up in a little bunch. Baby carrots, sort of?

I grew a few the year before last in big pots. They were lovely (I think - my grand-daughter ate them all!)

my neighbour started carrots off in pots and then didnt have enough room for them all...so she gave them to me and i planted them out as they came in the pots so little clumps of carrots .....i then thinned them out by eating them when they were very tiny... in salads - raw....leaving a few as a bunch to eat later ...they were very small but tasty....

I hardly ever thin my carrots - try and sow very thinly and then I just live with results - dont want to attract the dreaded root fly!
