  • Pickled Shallots - What size jar?

    Hi all,

after experimenting with the roast tomato relish recipe in the latest GYO magazine, I'm feeling a bit ambitious and am considering pickling some of my Golden Gourmet shallots (as a newbie I seriously overestimated the number of sets required for a 'decent' harvest, and am now snowed under with the things). However, I am unsure as to what size jar I should be buying - I've got to get some pretty large ones or there'll only be a handful of shallots in each jar.

I am completely lost with the whole 8oz, 12oz size thing, so wondered what others out there use?

    Cheers for the help

    I always re-use jars I bought with something in<g>
If you use small jars you need lots, but the results make good Christmas presents.
Minimum size for jars to keep, I would say 16oz type, and if you can get 2lb jars so much the better, but 12oz isn't a bad size for giving away<g>

Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
