  • Hardy raspberries

Does anyone know where I could get some raspberry cains that will grow well up in Glasgow? If possible, would really like to get hold of a Scottish variety, but don't know of any.

Glen variety: Glen More Glen Prosen etc.

But basically all UK rasps are hardy: we have winters with -10C to -15C and a lot more snow than Glasgow and our rasps produce lots of fruit.

You need a well drained well manured/composted place to plant.

We're surrounded by fields of them and strawberries here in Angus so you shouldn't have any problem with them in Glasgow

Most of the raspberry plants on sale are Scottish bred. Check the names - Glen Cova, Glen Malling etc. Good source of supply for named varieties is Ken Muir ( a tad expensive, though)
