Asparagus

Can anyone tell me how many asparagus crowns I can get on a patch 5 feet x 5 feet. It doesn.t really fit into the usual 'rows' recommendations. Since they seem to come in packs of 3 I was thinking about 6 plants. How would I space them? Also when should I plant them? I prepared the soil last autumn - dug as deep as I could and added rotted manure.

2 rows of three would be fine.
18" between plants and 2ft 6" between rows.
