Not an expert but I've seen several references to growing rhubarb in buckets etc recently (think poss in the latest GYO?).
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery

I've come to take you home."

I have some in a bucket, don't get a huge crop but do get some. However, I believe it is easy enough to just dig out the bits you don't want and give them to other people.

Plant away - your rhubarb will not take over !! I have several crowns that are over seven years old and they total an area of 2 ft square. If the plant gets too big for the area set aside for it, just slice off the crowns you don't want and pass them to someone else - this helps to rejuvenate the plant too.

I have a wooden box around my rhubarb approx 2 foot wide by 3 foot long and 3 foot high.
I have just mucked it and filled the box with straw. This should give me an early crop of long tender stems. Once I've harvested them I will let some new shoots grow for a couple of months then harvest a few more mature stems, leaving some stems and leaves to help rejuvinate the crowns for next year!

          PS Rhubarb freezes well also!
