Default Pass the Parcel seed swap - Pls see post 125 on pg 4 for list

Here's an idea I heard from another allotmenteer yesterday ... a pass-the-parcel seed swap.

I fill up a jiffy bag with unwanted seeds, and post it to someone, who takes what they want, and puts in some seeds they don't want (so the box stays full - put in as much as you take out). They post it to another person, and so on. Just like Pass The Parcel.

Get organised - start sorting your seed swaps before you get the parcel: It took me 2 days; & it cost £2.10 in postage

this is a good seed packet template; Seed Envelopes

I'm not including growing instructions, you'll have to Google for these.

I've put a list of names inside the parcel ... add your name to it after you've had the parcel.

Get a free Proof of Posting receipt from the Post Office: parcels have gone missing before now

Let's keep it simple, and pass it on quickly

To get on the list, just add a friendly private message to Finedon Dandy, who has kindly taken over the Admin of this thread.

I guess you could start by drawing up a list of those who want to participate (you'd need a closing date I guess), and would you have people add to the parcel as it goes round?

Still interested in receiving parcel. All other posts deleted as requested for ease of finding people interested.

Sounds good but maybe some ground rules to prevent folks taking full packets and putting in less.

it sounds really good idea. Def need rules like a full packet needs to be replaced with a full packet and prehaps with an inventory inside and online where people write what they have taken and what they replaced so everyone can see it's fair.

I prop won't do it as don't have many spare seeds. Maybe when you do it next time i will have gathered enough

Great idea! I'm in, but don't you think it should start out with gardeners with the most seniority as they would have much more to offer and will most likely take away less from the parcel?

Count me in to. Great idea but definitely needs some rules so it is completely fair
for all participants.

I have taken part in a few of these and they are great !! so far no one has abused it and there is always a wonderful selection to chose from
Keep it simple !
As has been said i normally add far more than i take and its a great way to try some new things out !
All the ones i have done run like this,
Someone compiles a list of people taking part, a list is made up with address and this is put inside the parcel, when you send it on you send to the next person on the list and cross their name off.
Dont put seeds in that you would be upset to lose and its best if proof of sending is kept by all involved.
Count me in, there great fun !!!!!

I'll join in when I get back from holiday.

I may even bring back some Italian fare - unless I'm forbidden?
