    ...organise and re-organise their seeds?

I must have done so at least 3 times in the last month. I have the vague excuse that I am finding suitable swaps for VSP, or making a spreadsheet to keep track of things, or need to add the list to my blog or something, but I think I just like playing if I am honest :roll eyes:

They were initially organised by sowing month, but I found specific seeds awkward to find unless I remembered their sowing month, plus had the debate of what to do if they were to be sown over a period of time, do I keep them as the initial sowing month, or move along as the date does.

Then I organised them to family type, as I like the idea of growing a tray of similar things together as the growing requirements are similar so that made sense. But then it made less sense in terms of sowing dates as they were all over the place, not ideal.

So now they are going back to by sowing date, but I am doing a spreadsheet to make it easier to plan stuff and keep track... but then it might well work out easier to alphabetise them and use in tandem with said spreadsheet.....

Whilst all the time pulling out excess seed that I won't sow this year or next for VSP.

Which means I shall need to go over my seeds again to see if there is anything on the list I'd want in return and what I really have far too many of right now....

I am really bad, i like getting my individual little boxes out and just looking and rereading the back of the packets.
I even have a spare bedroom that i have now declared my seed room. my potatoes are chitting, mushrooms growing in their pre made packs. Trays in the window. sacks of soil leant agains the walls. i will lay seed packets out across the bed, and chose which ones are to be planted next........ Maybe i shouldn't share bedroom stories
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Yes, I play with my seed packets every so often, love to look at the pictures, esp flower packets. that's why it's so hard to pass by a rack of seeds in store.

I used to be just the same with coloured pencils as a kid. Get them out, sharpen all the points, arrange them shading from dark to light, then do it again with favourites together and less used ones at the back, then according to the rainbow.... then still put them away without having used them....

I have arranged my seeds into types and then into months. Then I have discovered that my daughter has re arranged the seeds but have no idea on her set up for them, I do believe it is the mess them all up system.
I have a book that I have listed my seeds in and the month that they can be sown in. It also means I can also make a note of when I sowed them to.

I like to go in my seed box and rearrange them into order of sow by month or just put my toms ect all togther so i know what ones i have. I also just go in my seed box to see what seeds i have.

I recone most people do that Bohho, well, one has to fondle and re-organize to get to know them first, this year i have put mine in sets, like toms, lettuce, roots, brassica, squash, herbs, beans, flowers, and miscelaniouse, they are in 2 oblong boxes, inside a large plastic box, each catagory is separated by a bit of card writen with whats what, the miscelanious one i have written the names of each pkt,all i do is,search though the relevant bunch for what i need,i find it easier than separate boxes,as you can skim through the lot, just looking at the index card ,like filing,

I had all my seeds planned out in order, then I did it again so I could write a list of sowing order & any special requirements (indoor/outdoor sowing etc) That was 2 weeks ago,iv just gone & found a stash of seed packets today,I didn't even know they were there. Now I need to go through them all again, but I'm excited of what there might be,rather than thinking,iv already done this at least 4 times. For example, the first packet I noticed was 'Antirrhinum Kimosy' a dwarf mid Rose looks gorgeous. I need to start a new list
