Default Delphiniums needed please

Sadly I'm not having much luck lately. My only 3 delphinium seedling (the rest didn't germinate) were totally devoured by snails despite my best efforts to keep them off

Anyway i wondered if anyone had any delphiniums seeds spare. I'm really interested in the round table or magic fountains or any pink seeds that you might have leftover.

Thanks very much.
Tracy

Ethans mum we are both in the same boat I fear! Worse still my friend relies on me for plants too and is most disappointed. I have been out and bought another packet and intend to do them in September and see whether I have better luck then.

Oh no not you aswell I'm going to take you're advice and do the same.

I would say though that you mustn't give up on your seedlings. I sowed mine in a pot and when they didn't germinate I put some marigolds in there instead. Well it was time to plant out the maris, so yesterday I got them out and discovered a well hidden delphi seedling!!! It was tiny mind you (and it was all alone)- It was sown in early March!! So the moral of the story is don't give up totally on them.

I was even thinking of joining the delphinium society to hear how they germinate their seeds.

I used the jiffy 7's. When I watered them in the tray, lined with kitchen towel most of them escaped and germinated on the towel

Next year I'm just using the kitchen towel, jiffy's no good as the netting confines the roots so you get poor growth.

The ones that did germinate have come on much better after removing the netting.
Not saying this is a tried or tested method but worked for me

Thanks for the tip herbie- I won't use jiffy 7

I got real giddy about delphi's so I bought some plugs off larkspur nursery
