Default Offered: Nicandra phsysaloides

dear all

I know it is a little late for this, but I've finally worked out what the mystery plant is that I inherited with my new garden. Nicandra Physaloides - the shoo fly plant. It gets its name from its reputation of being anathema to whitefly, so I'm planning to keep some in the greenhouse with the tomatoes this year. I have quite a few seeds still sitting on the plant, as I only planted one (out of half a dozen or so) of the physalis-type fruits worth of seed, so I wondered if anyone else fancied the experiment. Probably enough for about a thousand seedlings! As well as their bug-slaying reputation, they are quite nice plants - lilac trumpets on about 60-75cm tall plants. An SAE would be appreciated, but I don't need to swap. PM me if you are interested.

Nef

PS - because it is inherited, I don't know how it was brought up - I have to assume it is not organic
