Default Newbie Needs Seeds Please!!

Hi everyone,
Please, does anyone have any seeds they don't need that they can donate? I have nothing to swap yet I'm afraid as I ony started my garden last year & bought seedlings & no seed. Angry However, I can't afford to do that this year (and don't want to), so if anyone has any of the following seeds I'd be very grateful & very happy to participate in future swaps.

Many thanks to all for a great forum

Bolthardy
Autumn Queen
Nantes 3/Autumn King/Parano
Any type of outdoor growing cucumber
garlic
onion seeds - any
Hurst green
bell peppers
gold rush
sweetcorn - any
gardener's delight
marigold

Also, if anyone knows where I can get a cheap blueberry bush, I'd be very, very grateful as I missed them in my local Lidl

Hi AF, and welcome to the vine! If you PM me your addy, I can sort you out with a few on your hit list - I'll have a root through the box tomorrow, but from memory I spare autumn king and (I think) bolthardy, and may be able to spare some crackerjack marigold.

I can do you some outdoor cucumber plants. I seem to have lost my gardener's delight seeds but have other cherry tomato varieties if you would like to try those.

I've also got some autumn king and some Nantes 2 if that's any good.

Think I'm going to have a back breaking weekend ahead of me - am on the prowl for any unwanted wood in the many skips in the area to make some raised beds & think I have some free soil lined up. I'm hoping to do a 3 sisters bed mixed in with a square foot garden of other veg - have great plans using organic methods like companion planting and organic natural feeds (loads of comfrey here). Will have some potatoes in bins (if I can get some), toms in hanging baskets and others in pots. I hope I'm not being to ambitious in my small back garden and in only my 2nd year - if only I could get an allotment... for the big things

Where are you Acerfan? There is a seed swap on Sunday in Oxford if you are anywhere near there (see the Seedy Sunday Oxford thread). If you don't have any seeds to swap they are happy with a small donation.

Will have a look through my seeds to see if I have anything on your list.

Hi muckdiva,
would be great, but Oxford's a bit far from Norfolk. So far, thanks to the very kind & generous posters above, I should have carrot, cucumber, marigold, tomato, sweetcorn and beetroot seeds winging their way to me, but if you have anything else, that would be marvellous.

To everyone who's helped, I'll be making a list of your names & if I ever have any spare, you'll be the first they're offered to

Hi I am also new but have some onion seeds left over from last year.. white onion and/or yellow senhyu?? onions can't quite think off the top of my head, if you still want. Perhaps even spring onions.
Also don't know if you have a 'wilkinsons' nr you, but the one in shirley, Southampton has loads of cheap soft fruit plants including olives, lemons etc. Bought a thornless blackberry for £1 and a red gooseberry £3! they have some nice green shoots showing so hopefully they'll be ok. PM me if you'd like the onions I'll have a look.

Hi there Acerfan, Hope you enjoy it here. We have an excess of beans - borlotti and runner beans , and some sunflowers for the three sisters. If you would like some pm me your address. They weren't on your list, but a garden needs beans I feel!

Hi tinyvine,
thanks for the offer, would love to try several varieties, but since the possibility of an allotment share's fallen through, I have to limit myself on what I want to grow - I've just received some onion seeds through the post, & have been given some spring onion seeds by a work colleague, so thanks again, but I won't deprive you of your seeds unnecessarily. Also, unfortunately, no WIlkinsons nearby, but will keep an eye out in other cheap shops.
Thanks again,
Acerfan

Hi Raised Beds,

Thanks very much for your offer, but I've now courgette, pepper and plent of marigold seeds - in fact I could just plant the whole garden with them!!!

Thanks again,
Acerfan

Hi all,
Thank you so much for all your help. All I need to get now is seed potatoes, so I'll be off to the garden centre on Saturday - hopefully they've got some left. Have now got some wood - not the best, but hopefully it'll work. However, I need to treat it & was wondering if anyone knows the linseed oil recipe for organic preservative? I've seen it somewhere, and it's supposed to last a lifetime, but I can't find it now.

I have 3 bulbs of garlic you can try. They are already sprouting but should be ok if you get them in quick. I bought way too much off ebay and have run out of room. let me know if you would like.

Hi Acrefarm,

Do you have a poundland near you? They were selling two types of potatoes for £1 for 10 tubers.

Mine are sprouting nicely and all lot cheaper than the garden cente.
