Default your taste buds are about to love you even more!

far be it from me to boost the sales of the supermarket megaliths(!!), but on this occasion, your tastebuds deserve it
hurry thee to yon local supermarket & look in pickles section (sometimes above freezers), buy jar of either 'mild' (my favourite) or 'hot' Peppadew pickled peppers (in a syruppy briney type liquor). Hurry home, take phone off hook, lock the door & place a pepper on big chunk of favourite cheese! Seriously enjoy...!
Decadence doesn't come any better

I sling them into everything - particularly pasta sauces and home-made soups. They're really rather special.

It's something to be experienced. You can't express how good it is. It must be tried.
Plus, the fact that some marketing company is trying to prevent people from growing the peppers makes you just want to grow it more.

I have a variety of seeds I could do a swap with for a few of these. I'm on a bit of capsicum kick at the moment.

Here is a pic of them from the jar. Gives you an idea of what the raw ones should look like.

ooh, tomatoaddict,

if only you knew how many seeds I have hopelessly washed and tried to grow from a jar of peppadews !!
I am keeping my fingers crossed for all of peppadew-kind that your source comes to fruition....!
Well done you

I would think your seeds from the jar have been cooked at the very least - maybe even brined too. They are most unlikely to be viable after that sort of treatment. Think how hard some seeds are to germinate when everyone's been kind to them!

yep, kind of like nudging custard uphill, but doesn't stop me hoping against hope and my futile attempts are potentially only a measure of my desperation to grow the little buggers lol

Not aware if anyelse has tried this but in general the seeds from the jars have been in a vineger solution which, I believe, will render them useless, however in or close to the supermarket section that sells the peppadew are jars of peppaco peppers, these are very similar, if not the same as peppadews, but stuffed with soft cheese, these are not in vineger but in an oil solution so they may be viable? Anyway its my approach for next season.

Hi,

I'd be very interested in getting some seeds. I can offer many varieties in exchange.

Thanks
