Default Verbascum 'clementine'

Hello all,

I am new in today - and want to start by saying "Hi" and aren't we all a bunch of nutters? It's fantastic.

I am a Garden Magazine flusy I'm afraid - though GYO would always be my desert island favourite.

Anyhoo - I clipped out a photo of Verbascum 'clementine' many moons ago (Gardeners World I think) and have been looking for it every since.

Can anyone out there be my hero and let me know where I can find some?

Thanks to all and good luck with this years growin... ;0)

Default Erm...

To help us out, put your location in your profile.

I have had a look for you in the RHS plant finder section, not too good news.

It results two suppliers in the South.
RHS Plant Finder

No mail order.

This database is for nurseries who pay to be in the RHS Plant finder book, so others could also have it.

Thanks for the info - I'm in the Leeds area btw. I also tried RHS, even got a couple of e-mail addresses. Both of which were old. Sigh.... Sniff...

Will update profile asap.

Cheers!! ;0)

Have you tried Hayloft nurseries? Its not in their catalogue but they do have other varieties. Perhaps they have it on site?

I would find out who has the title of the English verbascum society most plants. Actually that isn't the name but I am having an aging blond moment. All flowers have people who specialise just in that one and they are the most learned on the subject too. Hope that helps!!!

That's great - found them! :0))))) Thanks!

Phew. However, no-one seems to have clementine... I found a few that are quite similar ones however, so will probably get one of them instead as I doubt with my limited knowledge and memory, I'd be able to tell them apart anyway.

Sigh... I do hate to give up the chase after so long. Maybe just one to fill the bare batch until I find my daring clementine (sorry - bit corny).

Default Verbascum "Clementine"

Servus Dajehle,

just joined in because of you

You are right! It's the Gardeners World, September 2005 edition. As luck would have it, I took along the magazine in question with me, on my trip through Southengland in 2005. Recently I digged it out again, and stuck on page 63, with the wonderful orange blossoms. The accompanying text refers to "Thompson & Morgan" Online Seed and Plant Catalogues to order Clementine, but also says, that supplies are limited. But this you have already noticed

I am still browsing the internet for Clementine, because I could not find a supplier so far, who delivers grown plants to Austria. But if you live within the U.K., and are willing to reopen the chase, T&M could become your true clementine-heroes one day...

Good night, good luck and green greetings from Vienna!

Welcome to the forum Xine!

I'll send Thompson and Morgan an email, maybe if they get enough requests they may re-introduce it (fingers crossed).

I'll let you all know if I get a reply

Tracy
