Default Hello from this Newbie

I found this site via a T & M link to GYO - certainly looks V.interesting?
Hello to everyone from a newish, old but VERY keen gardener.

Anyway, to make a start with this group: nothing big, just that I've got 2 FREE packets of seeds for the having; they came a couple of months ago with a an order of 5 purple asparagus crowns (I'll be needing lots af advice for this, later)
1) 500 seeds Lettuce Red/Green 738E: Salad Bowl + Red Salad Bowl, 50:50. 'Attractive cut & curled oak leaf shaped leaves.' Sow March - July; harvest June - Oct.
AND
2) 350 seeds Mustard 1885/K: Red Giant. 'Mild, tangy flavour for salads & stir-fries.' Sow a April - August (and Aug - Oct for large, mature plants); harvest July - Oct (and thru to spring).

There's no tradename on the packets, but kale from the same source has shot out of its seed-bed in 4days. I'm not a green salad eater - so maybe someone else IS?
Best wishes, Muddyfingers

Hello Muddyfingers, very kind of you to offer the seeds. I don't need them but someone else will. Just wanted to say welcome to the Vine and happy gardening. I'm just in out of the way of the next shower. Trying to get rid of wild peas which are growing out of the cracks in the paths and invading the sides of the drive. Tried all else so its salt I'm using today. Wish me luck.
