  • What are you eating from your plot/garden this week?

Today we will be eating our own carrots, spuds, psb, onions, peas and red cabbage. Also stuffing made from homemade bread and our sage and apples and hazelnuts.

At breakfast we had my own strawberry and rhubarb jams.

Sadly not as much as last year , but it's been a funny old year hasn't it?

Enjoy your own produce peeps!...and well done

Well today it's carrots, parsnips, butternut squash, peppers, garlic, herbs, leeks, tomatoes (still ripening in the cupboard) blackberry jam, (bread's almost always h/m - today's includes walnut as a special treat.)

I've had a good year really, mainly because everyone here has got into supporting the gardening, especially harvesting. We are buying almost no veg at the mo-using the freezer/garden/tunnel but I did have a rush of blood to the head and bought a cauli last week and my lettuces/chicory have gone on go slow so we've been buying them for the beardies and cucumbers for the hamster.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

Sadly too many things have conspired against me in the last growing year, the only home produce with dinner was round french beans from the freezer

Today we've gathered mixed lettuce, parsnips, sprouts, kale and some leeks grown in a tub that didn't get allium leaf miner plus herbs to add to the roast veg. Had to buy carrots though because I didn't sow enough to last.

I could be picking parsnips, kale, cabbage, leeks, sprouts and broccoli from the garden, spring onions, land cress, oriental mustards, rocket and some other greens from the GH and spuds, onions and squash from the store. Picked the last few tomatoes today but still have some ripening and plenty in the freezer.
Have some experimental courgettes in flower in the GH, physalis and a couple of strawberries ripening, much to my amazement.
The only veg I've bought since spring are mushrooms or yellow stickered stuff that's too cheap to ignore.
Its been a really good year
