  • using up all those runner beans

cut the beans into one inch pieces, fry some finely sliced garlic for two minutes in a glug of olive oil, add the beans, 2 whole cloves, pinch of chilli flakes and a drained tin of plum tomatoes, cover and simmer for twenty minutes, add some basil leaves before serving.

I've made something similar but without the chilli, so might add it next time. I once made runner bean Chutney but I wasn't to keen on that.
    Location....East Midlands.

I've done summat similar tonight too
I used flat podded French beans - cut into diamond shapes with scissors.
Boiled in a little water until soft, drained.
Added some chopped fresh tomatoes and heated/stirred them togather untl the toms broke down.
Added a tin of mackerel in sweet chilli sauce and stirred it all together.
Poured a glass of red and ate my dindins.

Cost - about 40p for the fish.
