  • Lack of sweetness in beetroot

    Help....man in the kitchen here!

I have cook some beetroot this morning and although very tender, they lack sweetness....placed in warm water, brought to the boil and then simmered for 35 minutes

    What am I doing wrong?

Have you tried wrapping in foil and roasting them?

Like Wendy says it does taste nice roasted but to use up that you've already cooked you could turn it into beetroot and apple chutney.
      Location....East Midlands.

Thanks both, i do tend to roast the bigger ones but thought I would give boiling a go. Nice idea Bren but cooking and me just dont get on, I even burn water!

          hi

roast beetroot in foil bag with a small sprig of thyme salt and pepper is so better than just oven coked.

ry it and you wont regret it

          happy gardening
