    And nettle beer...

HUNTER-GATHERING: wild & fresh food: Battersea Nettle Beer: A wild brew from the urban jungle...

    Quote...."

I cannot understand two things: first, why it is called a beer when it tastes more like a wine? Secondly, why people don’t make this more often! It is like the elderflower cordial of the alcohol world, sweet, refreshing and the perfect spring/summer drink. "

anyone up for giving this a go?????

I'm definitely up for the challenge - been meaning to make something with nettles. I made a soup a couple of years ago, but I can't say it was great! Hopefully Hugh F-W won't let me down

Creamed nettles with loads of garlic and a light grating of fresh nutmeg to serve... yum.
Have made nettle beer it's good but had half a pint as an aperitif once then followed it with a glass of red wine with the meal. Resulted in a huge hangover, must be something in the nettles.

Its one of those things I've heard people doing but have never done anything myself. I know my granddad did the Nettle wine, mind you he would make wine out of anything.
Is there anything you would advice to look for apart from getting nettles above dog wee height

I love nettle quiche, I make it every year, I just add mushrooms and onions and some flavouring. Yummy

Really like that they state 'a carrier bag is a standard measure for nettles'
