  • Haggis

I very rarely visit this forum but I went to see my son today and I didn't ask but was told what they were eating today.

He and his girlfriend had bought a chicken and someone had given them a haggis. They have decided to stuff the chicken with the haggis. This sounds like genius to me. .

I am tempted to do this for Xmas day seeing as the last time I had Xmas on my own was a 3 Bird roast from Aldi which was so unbelievably disgusting I binned it.

Haggis is great with chicken fillets. Split fillets and stuff with haggis, wrap in bacon and cook in oven. Delicious with a cream sauce! Mmmmm! Or if you have a small ring mould. Place a layer of mash pots, then layer of mashed turnip/swede and then top with cooked haggis. Serve with whisky sauce! Making myself hungry here!

I've merged them so that Haggis becomes less popular again

We are off out tonight for a "Traditional Scottish Haggis" evening here in Spain! Our local restaurant googled how to make haggis last year and it was almost very good. We are hoping for an improvement tonight

Well you could always try pizzle

Different cuts have different textures and flavours. It's also not nice to the beasties to chop them into bits and throw half of it away.

I suppose it all comes down to person taste - i love haggis even though the ingredients may not be top of others lists of things to taste!

Personally there are lots of other things that give me the dry boak (even thinking about them makes my teeth water) - top of the list is tripe closely followed by custard (and no not in the same bowl)!
