I have a glut of Globe artichokes coming. Does anyone have any new/unusual suggestions for cooking before I get into serious trouble?
    Thanks very much

      Are you joking?

      1. Cut
      2.Trim
      3. Boil
4.put on plate and add bowl of butter.
      5.Eat
      6. go back to 1 and repeat till you feel sick ( probally after 10-12)

Why would you want to do anything else? We were eating 2 each a night last year as a starter.

In the part of Spain we visit scrambled-eggs flavoured with something interesting is a common starter/snack. Artichokes are among the chosen 'flavourings' (have to admit that my favourite is shrimps and wild asparagus, but the artichoke one was nice too). Just cook as for eating fresh, cut up the bits you eat into smallish chunks, add part-way through scrambling the eggs.
Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

          Yummy- lucky you!

This sounds nice (if a bit posh) :Poached Eggs on Artichoke Bottoms with White Truffle Cream and Mushrooms

Personally I just follow NOG's advice usually and dip them in melted butter, delicious.

Yes, the truffle might be a bit excessive for a Wednesday evening!

I had my first four globes last night, I picked them small because we have quite a few more coming.
After I eventually got most of the blackfly off they were tastylicious!

I'm sure all your friends and family will be delighted to receive any you can't eat, I know mine will be. And they cost a blinking fortune in Waitrose.
