Default fab food

dont know if this is the right place for this but,
went out for dinner last night, i had a rabit and pigeon starter with wild mushrooms, and duck served with roast beetroot which was done with juniper berries(increadable) and a beetroot jam done with aniseed (also reallly good) purple haze carrots runner beans and corgettes
going to attemp to recreate the beetroot stuff at home and thought some of you might like to try too.

dont have an oven yet so that ones on hold for a while,
I would sugest peeling carefully, placing on a baking tray pour over a tad of oil sprinkle with juniper put in a med oven for about an hour, thats how i was going to try it anyway.

yoanbob,
You're not wrong, but don't peel the roots, add a smidge of balsamic vinegar, some smashed up garlic cloves, some fresh oregano leaves, and extra virgin olive oil, wrap it all up in foil in a gas 5 oven for 60 mins, or until tender. I got Trousers to take a photo of mine earlier this evening before I shoved in the oven. I used Golden & Bulls Blood Beetroots. I'll get him to post the photo up for you?! It is indeed delicious.....

Doesn't it look pretty? It tastes amazing, but try it with different herbs to create your own individual dish flavour.....

I suppose you could use Gin?......but there again you could finish up blowing the oven door off!

Now, there's an idea Snadge! I do a lovely Pork Fillet Dish with Sloe Gin. No reason why that wouldn't work with this Beetroot Dish. You're a dark horse?!
