Default Blackberry Icecream

Hi Earthbabe
Just realised you still want this recipe , so i thought i'd post for all
500g blackberries
140g sugar
2tbsp creme mure/cassis (optional0
225g clotted cream ( i have used creme fraiche if stuck)
CUSTARD
4 lg egg yolks
2tbsp sugar
1tbsp pl flour
300ml milk
1) Tip blackberries into shallow ovenproof dish, sprinkle with sugar and heat at 130c 40mins so juices flow.Leave to cool and add creme de mure.
2) To make custard beat egg yolks and sugar and flour.
Bring milk to boil in pan pour over egg yolks and whisk.
Pour back into pan and stir until thickened. Cool.
3) Beat clotted cream add custard and blackberry mixture. Freeze in an icecream maker or use traditional icecream making methods.

Thanks JB. Will crack on with that asap. Sounds superb compared to my variation on a theme effort! I'm sure some of the grapes will be pleased to note that it contains optional alcohol!!!

Wonder if we could use the blackberry whisky/vodka/whatever if stuck. Can't always find creme de cassis over here. Bit too continental.

MMMMMmmmmmm that sounds fab! I am planning a blackberry raiding session over the weekend as there are so many fields here full of ripe blackberries.

It'd be rude not to...

Will have a go at blackberry jam (never made jam before) and might give the ice cream a go too if I get enough - although I'll have to look up traditional ice cream making as I don't have an ice cream maker. Looking forward to it already

Jersey bean...that sounds fantastic...can tell you were brought up on the best milk in the EU!!!
Went on hols to the N and E last year for the first time and visited so many prehistoric burial mounds....you are SO lucky to live there ( just think you need a few more French chefs to stamp their mark!! )
Come on....there must be loads of local dishes you can pass on ??

Will just have to open a bottle of 'your' La mare St Mary's vineyard Apple brandy
to celebrate your introduction to the Vine!!! - such a hard life here !!!
