  • Alcoholic Rhubarb Snot

Just strained the rhubarb vodka as it had been brewing since June and I needed the jars for mincemeat. I thought I'd make the leftovers into a quick jam, so chucked in a few foraged apples and some sugar and cooked for a bit.

It now looks like snot, tastes nice but looks rank. Any inspiring ideas for what I can do with it? I thought about mixing it into cookies or flapjack but it's pretty snot like and might not work. I can't find any recipes other than thumb print cookie type things, but I want to disguise this phlegmy looking rankness as much as possible. Any ideas gratefully received.

How about, something like rhubarb fool type desert? Using cream/custard might disguise it's current appearance?

        Or, in a trifle

Actually probably the best thing to do wud be to 'rename' it, it's current title is a bit off putting. I mean you couldn't offer someone a slice of 'snot cake or snot pudding' cud you.

But rhubarb and apple upside down pudding with cream, sounds delicious !

If nothing else, this should win a Top Thread Title award.

Use it instead of the apple for eve's pudding, or under a creme brulee , or instead of a creme Catalan which sometimes uses pineapple, you could make a creme Yorkshire in honour of the rhubarb triangle?

Thanks all, some grand ideas there. Steamed pud, or upside down cake sound lovely, I could deffo hide some phlegm under there. Not sure about creme brulee, I'd probably cock that up. I made some custard yesterday and curdled it

Whenever I use rhubarb, I always chuck in a handful of blackberries, or some blackberry puree, so that instead of being snot-green, it comes out blush rose. Too late for you now, though, if you've already jammed it....
