You and me both Jennie!

Hazel, I hope all went well, and I shall look forward to hearing how you got on with all your Show preparations today, either here, or on Wot I Did Toady thread.
PS. Is your Mum going?

Default Fanfare please.....

Ok, so I am now knee deep in marble cake! Mk III NOT a success - like a clot I forgot to lightly grease the greaseproof which I put on at the start and planned to Whip Off for the last 15mins.

When I whipped off the greaseproof, the top of the cake came with it!!! And NO I am not going to post a piccy for you all to laugh at!

SO this is MKIV which I made this morning. It over rose a bit, and cracked a bit, but overall, I can hold my head up!

Wish me a huge bunch of luck!!

Hazel,
Great looking cake - You must be sick of marble cake, so.... when you've finished with it I'd love to have a piece
Seriously though, a huge bunch of luck to you and.... a huge bunch of flowers when (not if) you win.
Clare

Default And the Winner is.... well, not me, actually!

Well here's a piccy of the 3 entries for the marble cake class (mine is in the middle) with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd certificates....

...the more observant of you will note that mine came third

But - hey - I am not in the least downhearted! You grapes were extremely helpful - and at least I could enter a cake that I was happy with thanks to your advice!

The day as a whole was fabulous (although my veg didn't win prizes, they generally looked good) and Wellie and Trousers coming along was fantastic!

They bought my a lovely goodie bag with all sorts of produce and things in to make me laugh - and I sent them back to the Royal Forest of Dean with......some marble cake!

Sorry, but the winning cake didnt look very 'marbly' to me? Still, at least you had a go Hazel .... plenty of time to practice for next year, or are you sick of the sight of marble cake?! I'm impressed you had the confidence to enter, I wouldnt want anyone to judge my veg thats for sure hahaha!

Well done for having a go! Yours looks good & marbled. I'm going to have a peer at the local horticultural show on Saturday and might steel myself for entering next year. After all, by the time I'm 70 I might be as good as some of the winners!

Next year you'll sweep the board!
