The last chillies of 2016 are now picked after a festive stint as Christmas baubles and have been pickled in white wine vinegar with tarragon, bay leaves and salt.

First jar of rhubarb vodka is doing its thing in the kitchen - picked nearly a kilo of it yesterday.

i would be delirious with happiness if I could pick a kilo of rhubarb from our plants lol.

Hopefully next year, as we have planted several more crowns. Then I shall be after you for the recipe Sparrow. XX

'S very easy and ready in 3 days. Which makes it one of the more dangerous allotment drinks! Perfect mixed with prosecco for a spring sundowner too...

                        Chop up rhubarb
                        Take a LARGE jar
Stuff it with the copped rhubarb and sugar to taste
top up to the brim with vodka
Leave for as long as you can
Slap yourself on the wrist and put the jar down, leave it a bit longer

Can also use Gin, rum or brandy.

unless (sometimes) they are infused with fruity goodness. Dear old Mrs Balders sometimes gives me a pass (out) then.
Seems rhubarb crumble may be off the cards for a bit ...
