Hazel I was very nervous the first time I used a pressure cooker (over 20 years ago) expected the thing to explode and take me with it, but soon got used to it and could not live without one now, its used every Sunday for our veg, also for stews and I use it for making jam.

Mum used it a lot when we were little, and it always seemed to be a hissing bad-tempered monster - tho' I suspect I was psycologically scarred for life the day that she did a rice pudding and filled it a bit full and we had rice pudding all over the kitchen ceiling.

You've seen Chicken Run? Substitute rice pudding for gravy...
