  • Where can I buy Small Holder Feed?

    Hi all,

I've checked on the small holder web site for stockists in my area and I'm not sure if the site needs updating or something because all the "suppliers" I've contacted or have been to DO NOT sell the small holder range and most of them say they never have.

Does anyone know where I can get Small Holder range 20kg bags of layers pellets near to High Wycombe or Heathrow Airport?

    Thanks, Graham.

Sorry, I'm not in your area, so I'm not going to be any help. I was just wondering why does it have to be that brand? I use Fancy Feed Company Layers' Pellets and Corn, my gals love it.

Sorry i'm not in your area so can't answer the question, but as G4 said why that brand?

I have used various different brands and never had a prob with my girl's. 9 times out of 10 it's Dodson and Horall I use.

Pets at home sell H&D if I remember rightly

I think Countrywide Stores stock that brand- there must be one not far from you, check their website for store locations

No particular reason for the brand, it was recommended at the start and I've used it since. The chickens love it and I've no real reason to change I just begrudge paying £6/£7 for delivery if I buy it on line, (I can get 20kg for £8.00before anyone adds delivery costs).

That's expensive. I pay £6.32 for a 20KG bag. I do have to collect it, but if I buy more than 5 bags I get 50p a bag off. When I'm stocking up on bedding and feed for Chooks and Horses, it can add up to a good saving.

I only pay £5.00 for my layers mash and it's only 5 min up the road.

Used to get pellets but the chocks had them all over the coop

are you buying smallholder as its the one recommended for ex-batts by the BHWT? if so, dont waste your money. give them normal layers pellets and top it up with some marmite on toast or some cod liver oil on the feed. the only advabtage of ex-batts feed is the additional vitamins. Not wortg paying the extra

Recommended by a few people, not BHWT. I didn't go that route in the end and got Gingernut rangers instead from a good breeder. The hens love it and have had no trouble eating it, and they are just on the switch over from growers to layers.

I've managed to find a Countrywide Stores shop (recommended by Scarlet, thanks) on my route home and their web site is pretty good too Countrywide - corporate homepage , all things animal & vegetable.
