  • What? No eggs!

The last couple of days it was dark when I went to collect eggs and asumed chooks had stopped laying for the winter.
I pre warned OH that we may have to get used to shop bought eggs for a couple of months. This went down like a lead balloon!

Imagine my joy when because it was a bit lighter when I got to the plot this evening, I spotted an egg on top of the straw in the nest box. After having a furtle I found another five. Which means the three eggs i am getting a day is still happening!

Instead of straw from a bale, I've been using chopped straw that you get for hampsters and suchlike. The eggs had slipped easily through the straw rather than being deposited on the top!

Sounds like you have egg on your face. Still I'm glad all's well that ends well.

You just confuse me all the time! I don't know whether you're giving chopped straw as presents, feeding them to your hamster or shoving it up your nose and pretending to be sane!

                    Ha!
                    Thanks for the offer...

They are aged between 1 and 8 years old....the older ones are banties and used to lay all year.
