Hi once again, im still doing some research on what hens to get, some one local has some warren hens available, has anyone got any experience of these, particular chooks,

Warrens are your typical laying hen - hybrids bred for battery egg production. They are friendly and don't mind being handled. Mine follow me around the garden and come into the house given half a chance.

Plain, brown, egg-laying machines. Full of character and very friendly. Not inclined to go broody like some others breeds/hybrids. I have 28 of them, all ex-batts, 2 and 3 year olds. Love 'em!

Lovely little layers, from a good source will give you years of egg production, just be aware they must have the correct feed, they put everything into egg laying and so therefore must be supplied with the correct protein level!Comment

I have 3 Warrens, Daisy always comes into the kitchen and then stands behind the door for some bizarre reason! Lovely hens.

I've had my two girls for over a year, initially I got some double yokers (one on my Birthday, best pressie I got)!!! They have laid all over the winter including all those snowy days. As soon as I get the spade or fork out the run after me to get grubs and worms. I hadnt had any chooks before, they are lovely....Comment

I have a warren with a unique name of Browny!! She has laid an egg everyday from the day after I got her and when the weather is nice she loves to snuggle up on my knee and sunbathe... I love her! So yes they are a great layer and pet!
