What kind of chooks are you getting? If they're ex-batts then you could possibly get an egg or two today or tomorrow

If they're POL's then it'll be when they're about 20 - 25 weeks old depending on the breed.

I have some pictures of my new chooks

, they are a Rhode Island Red x Barred Plymouth Rock who's very noisy and she knows she's the boss! an English Cuckoo Maran who's very shy and likes to stay indoors and two White Leghorn x RIR who are both very sweet. They seem to have settled in well and can't wait to let them free range but was told not to do so for a week.

Your picture '1' looks exactly like my Marans Cuivre (Copper Marans) and your picture '4' looks exactly like my Marans Coucou (Cuckoo Marans)' see my 'Posh Birds' thread.

They look lovely and healthy, and about the same age as my 'newbies' which aren't due to lay until mid-May. You'll be addicted by then LOL!

Lovely girls. AND eggs! Wow! Mine are only 17 weeks old - several weeks for them to settle in before they lay us an egg. Their combs are much smaller and paler than yours.

I've been told by the breeder that the Leghorn x will lay brown eggs, the RIR x will lay good sized brown eggs(and plenty of them!) and the Cuckoo Maran will lay dark brown eggs with brown speckles. So far I've got one brown egg and one small egg that's brown with cream speckles!
I'm watching from afar today!!
