  • Sawdust for the house

    Hi,

Just taken my first ex bats in and they have settled in nicely. I wanted to check if the sawdust i use for the floor of their house has to be anything special? I'm using pet shop bought stuff at the moment, but my dad is a woodturner so i have access to endless supplies if i need it.

    Thanks

    Neil

It's fine as long as it is from untreated wood. Also make sure it is not too dusty, ie more shavings than actual sawdust, although a little bit does no harm.

I get mine from a local carpenter too - he gives me free shavings and I give him free eggs. A good deal as far as I'm concerned!

It's supposed to be 'dust extracted'
I would imagine you could collect the sawdust with one of those large garden soil sieves and that would allow the dust to drop out?
What sort of things does your dad make?
